Practically thing Apple releases tends to bask astatine slightest immoderate popularity. Unfortunately, similar with astir of the industry, the days of outright silly products similar the iPod Socks (yes, we are not making this up) look to beryllium gone now. But that doesn’t mean determination isn’t inactive country for somewhat alien products. Apparently, Cupertino is moving connected 2 antithetic crippled controllers, oregon astatine slightest that’s what codification recovered wrong macOS 26.7 suggests.
The macOS Tahoe 26.7 merchandise campaigner codification really seems to incorporate a clump of references to unannounced devices, including camera-equipped AirPods and perchance immoderate new-generation HomePod mini devices, possibly a information camera arsenic well. But the astir “out-there” references are arguably for the T6502 and T1057 – some identified arsenic crippled controllers.
Apple doesn’t truly person crippled controllers successful its roster, although, technically, if you could number the Pippin, it has offered astatine slightest 1 controller successful the past. A wireless 1 astatine that. In fact, Apple spent rather a spot of resources to marque the astir fashionable third-party controllers retired determination compatible with its platforms. Units from PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and countless 3rd parties.
We bash cognize immoderate small details connected the upcoming controllers. Both models diagnostic an ABXY fastener layout, 2 clickable thumbsticks, enarthrosis buttons, analog triggers and Home and Menu buttons – beauteous overmuch the golden modular for a modern controller.
The T6502 is the much basal of the two, lone reporting USB connectivity, with nary question sensors and thing other fancy similar a touchpad, microphone oregon speaker. The T6502 does person an Options fastener and reports 4 abstracted haptic channels – 2 for a near haptic centrifugal and different 2 for a close one. Apparently, fractional the channels are “software”, truthful essentially, 2 channels per motor, which should let for beauteous precocious haptics.
The T1507 appears to beryllium a higher-end offering, since it tin link done USB arsenic good arsenic Bluetooth. It has an accelerometer and gyroscope, presumably to beryllium utilized arsenic alternate input. Interestingly, nary Options cardinal connected this one, and it has conscionable a azygous haptic motor.
Anyway, these controller references were initially nationalist successful macOS 26.7 but were pulled successful the 2nd release. We can’t accidental if they were removed oregon conscionable hidden. Either way, if the controllers bash go reality, we bash person to wonderment wherefore Apple decided to walk resources connected this peculiar niche. Could determination beryllium immoderate gaming-related announcements connected the skyline arsenic well?
