Earlier today, we wrote astir iFixit's teardown of the iPhone Duo, which addressed immoderate of the concerns astir the phone's interior folding surface and its hinge plan - we've already seen plentifulness of reports astir the interior surface getting damaged, adjacent though the iPhone Duo only became available (in constricted quantities, nary less) a fewer days ago.
Apple iPhone Duo
Now we tin displacement our attraction towards different important question: volition the iPhone Duo bend? And for that we tin lone look towards Zack from the YouTube transmission JerryRigEverything, who's been trying to crook phones near and close for years now. So here's his accepted 'durability' test, performed connected the iPhone Duo this time.
Spoiler alert: bending the iPhone Duo doesn't drawback it successful half, but it doesn't extremity good either. After 1 bend, the interior surface develops a imperishable enactment connected it, aft a 2nd crook much lines appear, and past aft a 3rd bend, the interior show becomes unresponsive and unusable adjacent though it doesn't crook disconnected altogether.
It's important to enactment that an retired of warranty iPhone Duo interior surface repair, if you don't person AppleCare+, volition acceptable you backmost an insane $999, truthful this is decidedly thing to support successful mind. However, earlier performing these crook tests, Zack tried to capable the iPhone Duo's hinge mechanics with arsenic overmuch dust, sand, and debris arsenic possible, and immoderate of it intelligibly got stuck successful determination - you tin perceive it erstwhile helium tries to adjacent the phone, and it's really preventing it from closing entirely.
While we can't accidental for definite that the debris has contributed to the interior display's issues aft each bend, we besides can't conclusively regularisation that out, truthful things aren't wide cut. At slightest not from this illustration alone. Anyway, fixed however overmuch that surface repair costs, we would of people caution you against taking the iPhone Duo to the beach, and you should astir apt besides debar sitting connected it by mistake erstwhile it's open. For your wallet's sake.
