We saw the Poco F9 Ultra tally Geekbench 7 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 – that is past year’s flagship chipset and it was featured connected the F8 Ultra. But we don’t person to trust connected leaks anymore, Poco has officially confirmed that the caller Ultra volition usage the aforesaid Elite Gen 5 chip.
The Poco F9 bid volition usage the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chips
Meanwhile, the Poco F9 Pro volition usage the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series. Okay, Qualcomm’s naming strategy is simply a mess, but the V-series spot has the aforesaid CPU arsenic the regular Elite Gen 5 chip. What’s antithetic is the GPU, which is 33% smaller – it has lone 8 compute units alternatively of the afloat 12. It besides has little on-chip representation for the GPU (12MB vs. 18MB).
The Poco F8 Pro utilized the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, i.e. the 2024 flagship spot (what would person been called “Gen 4” if Qualcomm was bully astatine counting). So, determination was a accidental that the caller Pro exemplary would get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the non-Elite version. But this is better.
The V-series spot has a faster CPU than the non-Elite spot (same cores, higher timepiece speeds), portion their GPUs should beryllium reasonably equal. So, that’s a amended than expected upgrade for the Poco F9 Pro and nary upgrade for the Poco F9 Ultra implicit its predecessor.
By the way, you tin person a look astatine the China-exclusive Redmi K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, since the Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra volition beryllium their planetary versions.
Poco F9 Pro successful Aurora Green • Poco F9 Ultra successful Dark Cherry
The Poco F9 bid volition beryllium revealed connected September 1 (next Tuesday). Their leader colors (which you tin spot above) volition beryllium Aurora Green for the Pro and Dark Cherry for the Ultra.
